Deadly Motorcycle Crash in Quincy, Mass.

Police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash in Quincy, Mass., over the weekend. According to preliminary reports, the driver of the motorcycle was operating on a learner’s permit.

Thomas Coffey, 40, and his 8-year-old son were riding on a motorcycle in Quincy, Mass., when they fatally collided with a dump truck Saturday afternoon.

Both died after being rushed to local hospitals from the scene of the accident, which occurred around 5 p.m. on Ricciuti Drive near the Granite Links Golf Course.
     
Quincy police tell NECN Coffey acquired the learner’s permit on Sept.5. Under state law, a motorcycle operator on a learner’s permit cannot have a passenger.

The investigation is on-going. No charges have been filed at this time.
